Liam Hunt is the Regional Operations Manager at ADR Network, overseeing the company’s operations across the Midlands, spanning from Coventry across to Spalding, Leicester down to Milton Keynes.

Liam joined ADR Network in 2012 as part of an intake for their Graduate Management scheme, starting as an Operations Consultant, initially working in the Tamworth Branch.

His exceptional work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills quickly made him an invaluable asset to the company.

Liam’s ability to forge strong relationships with clients and internal teams set him apart and contributed to his success.

Career Advancement:

Due to Liam’s outstanding performance as an Operations Consultant in the Tamworth and Stafford branches, he was offered the role of Senior Operations Consultant for the Crick branch.

Embedding himself in the Crick operations, he was soon promoted to Operations Manager, covering Crick and Northampton, and then again to his current position as Regional Operations Manager.

With his strong background and experience in the transport and logistics sector and his strong leadership skills, Liam was the perfect fit for the position. In his new role, he excelled at streamlining operations, improving efficiency, and delivering exceptional results.

#1 – Can you tell us a little about your background and experience before joining ADR Network?

Of course. Before joining ADR Network, I had my first taste of recruitment, working within the perm sector for a company specialising in the Freight Forwarding, Shipping, and Logistics sectors.

#2 – What motivated you to join ADR Network?

I was forwarded the advert for the opening on their graduate scheme by a friend, and when I researched the company, I was drawn to ADR Network because of its reputation as the leading driver provider in the UK.

I was particularly impressed by the company’s commitment to investing in its employees and providing opportunities for growth and development. ADR Network’s dedication to delivering exceptional service to its clients aligned with my own professional goals.

#3 – Can you tell us about your career journey at ADR Network, starting as a consultant and eventually becoming a Regional Manager?

Being from Essex, I was initially offered a role in the Thurrock branch, with a 6month secondment to the Tamworth branch, which, at the time, was one of the largest in the network. As time passed, I was enjoying living in the Midlands, and the 6month secondment turned into a full-time role.

From Tamworth, I completed stints in the Stafford branch, and then moved to the Crick branch, gaining promotion to a Senior Operations Consultant within 16 months of starting with the company.

Over time in Crick, I showcased my leadership skills, ability to thrive under pressure, and commitment to excellence, which lead to being promoted to Operations Manager.

After 4 years in this role, I took on the Operational responsibilities for the Northampton and Tamworth branches, being promoted to my current role as Regional Operations Manager. My region then grew further, with the Corby and Peterborough branches coming under my remit.

#4 – What does a typical day in your role look like?

As a Regional Operations Manager at ADR Network, there isn’t a typical day. Whilst I have a number of set tasks, every day can throw up something different that needs my attention, making it extremely varied, and each day fulfilling.

I begin my day by reviewing operations from overnight, and running reports to assist the operations for the coming day. This helps me identify areas that require attention or improvement.

I then meet with the Operations team to discuss any challenges they may be facing and brainstorm potential solutions. It’s important for me to stay connected with the team and provide guidance whenever necessary.

Additionally, a significant portion of my day involves communicating with our customers. I ensure that their needs are being met and address any concerns they may have. Building strong relationships with our clients is crucial for the success of our operations, which is why I’ll spend a good amount of time visiting clients.

Day to Day, I’ll spend time across the different branches I manage ensuring operations align with the company’s overall goals.

#5 – What are your responsibilities and duties as a Regional Manager?

As the Regional Manager, my responsibilities encompass overseeing the day-to-day operations of the branches that fall into my region.

This involves managing a team of professionals and ensuring that we provide exceptional service to our clients. I am accountable for maintaining high standards of efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction within our region for driver supply.

Client relationships are key to the success of our business, and continuing to build on these is a huge part of the role. Compliance is key to what we do at ADR Network, so ensuring high standards are kept is vitally important.

#6 – What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in your role as a Regional Manager and how have you overcome them?

One of the significant challenges I face as a Regional Operations Manager is efficiently managing multiple teams spread across different locations.

To overcome this challenge, I prioritise my tasks, create rotas, delegate responsibilities to team members, and maintain regular communication to ensure everyone is working towards our shared goals.

Emphasising clear communication and fostering a sense of teamwork has proven crucial in addressing this challenge.

Another challenge lies in maintaining operational efficiency while keeping costs under control for our clients. To tackle this, I work closely with our customers, understanding their specific requirements, and any pending peaks, and identifying areas where we can enhance efficiency without compromising on quality.

#7 – Can you share some of your proudest accomplishments during your time at ADR Network?

Personally, my proudest accomplishment at ADR Network has been gaining promotion to my current role, as Regional Operations Manager.

I enjoy my role and have a “lead from the front” mentality, which I feel increases morale, and performance, within my branches.

Additionally, I take pride in the positive impact we’ve had on our client’s businesses through our partnership approach.

By ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations, we have built trust and long-lasting working relationships with our clients.

#8 – What do you believe was the key to your success in advancing your career at ADR Network?

In my opinion, the key to my success in advancing my career at ADR Network has been a combination of several factors.

Firstly, my relentless dedication to delivering exceptional results and going above and beyond to exceed expectations.

Secondly, my commitment to continuous learning and professional development, enables me to adapt to changing industry demands and embrace new opportunities.

Lastly, building strong relationships with both internal teams and clients has been vital in driving success and achieving mutual growth.

#9 – What qualities and skills do you believe are essential for success in your role as a Regional Operations Manager?

Strong leadership skills are crucial. This involves the ability to motivate and inspire the team, provide clear direction, and foster a positive work culture.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential for effective collaboration with various stakeholders, both within the organisation and externally.

The capability to remain calm under pressure, think strategically, and make informed decisions is vital in tackling challenges and achieving sustainable growth.

Lastly, a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service is paramount. Understanding and addressing the needs of our clients is essential for building and maintaining strong relationships.

This is a top priority for me. I believe in leading by example and creating a culture of respect, collaboration, and support.

Regular communication is key, as I encourage open dialogue and ensure that every team member has a voice. I provide regular feedback and recognition for their hard work and contributions, fostering a sense of appreciation and motivation.

#11 – What are your goals for the future at ADR Network, and how do you plan to achieve them?

My goals for the future at ADR Network revolve around continued growth, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service.

I plan to achieve these goals by staying focused on our key performance indicators and continuously improving our processes and strategies. I will closely monitor industry trends to ensure that we remain at the forefront of the logistics and transport sector.

Collaborating closely with my team, I will emphasise teamwork and encourage innovative ideas that drive our success.

By fostering robust client connections and providing outstanding service, we have the potential to broaden our market reach and establish ourselves as a reputable frontrunner in the driver supply industry. This, in turn, enables us to present a multitude of lucrative HGV job prospects.

#12 – How do you ensure effective communication and collaboration between your team and other departments within ADR Network?

Communication is key to the success of ADR Network’s ability to truly work as that, a Network. Unlike many companies in the sector, we work seamlessly together with other branches, ensuring the best possible service is given to our clients.

To ensure effective communication, I establish regular channels of communication with other department heads, such as through scheduled meetings or email updates.

These interactions allow us to align our goals, share important information, and address any issues or challenges proactively.

Furthermore, I foster a culture of teamwork and mutual support. I promote regular formal and informal interdepartmental meetings, where team members can exchange updates, seek input, and brainstorm ideas.

This cultivates a sense of unity, strengthens relationships, and ensures that everyone is working towards the common goal of providing exceptional service to our clients.

To someone starting a career in the transport and logistics sector, my advice would be to embrace every opportunity for learning and growth.
